At Kievit Dentistry, we recognize the importance of trust with each of our patients. Navigating the world of dentists can be stressful. We are here to help you through that process. We are committed to educating our patients so they feel empowered to make informed decisions regarding their dental needs and desires.
For patients looking to change the shape, size, or shade of their teeth, we blend the beauty of nature and master ceramics to create a smile you will love.
Looking to brighten your smile? We offer in office and take home whitening options to whiten your teeth.
Braces aren't just for teenagers anymore. Whether you've had orthodontic relapse or you're looking to align your teeth for the first time we've got you covered with customized treatment options to achieve your goals.
Implant restorations are a wonderful option for patients looking to replace one or more missing teeth. Let us help restore what you've lost.
At Kievit Dentistry, comprehensive care is what we do best. We believe treating the whole smile and the whole patient. We offer preventive services including dental cleanings, oral cancer screenings, periodontal treatment, and fluoride treatments. Our restorative care includes composite (white) fillings, crowns, bridges, simple root canal treatment, and simple tooth extractions.
We are at the forefront of dental technology to increase patient comfort, minimize time spent in the chair, and promote conservative treatment. We utilize 3D digital scanning for crown, bridge, and implant restorations. We have digital x-rays to decrease your radiation exposure and provide better quality diagnostic images. We use intraoral cameras to give you a front seat view on your dental health. When indicated, we use the Velscope, a painless hand held device that shines a fluorescence light to better identify unhealthy tissue that may not be visible to the naked eye.
Fractured a tooth? We offer porcelain, zirconia, and gold dental crowns and bridges to repair damaged or lost teeth.
For our patients looking to replace many missing teeth, complete dentures or partial dentures are a wonderful option. We offer metal, metal free, and implant retained or supported dentures.
Emergencies happen. We are committed to getting our patients in as quickly as possible for emergent and urgent care, most often the same day.
Your comfort is our priority. We offer neck pillows and blankets to each of our patients. We also have nitrous oxide (laughing gas) available.
We believe in the importance of setting up our littlest patients for a lifetime of optimal oral health and positive dental experiences. We offer dental cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants.
For those little patients needing dental treatment, we offer composite (white) fillings. We also offer nitrous oxide, when requested. We believe in the "tell, show, do" approach to providing dental care to children. We first tell the child what we will be doing, show them, and then complete the procedure. We understand the importance of creating an environment of trust so that they feel empowered during each visit and will have a lifetime of positive dental experiences.
Dr. Alyssa McIntyre Kievit first committed to the dentistry career path when she was in high school. “I don’t come from a line of dentists so I relied heavily on the dental community to foster my interest and gain insight on how to achieve this goal. I made cold calls to local offices, explaining my interest, and asked if I could work as a volunteer intern. A local orthodontist hired me as an assistant and trained me on the job. I attribute this experience to what really opened the doors for me to begin my career path.”
As a native to Newtown, Connecticut, Dr. Kievit is happy to be practicing in her home state. Dr. Kievit attended Syracuse University where she graduated magna cum laude with an honors distinction in Biology. She earned her doctorate from the University of Connecticut, School of Dental Medicine.
To further her skills, she completed a general dentistry residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, splitting her time between the Upper East Side hospital campus and Harlem satellite dental clinic. “It was here I really learned the importance of breaking down barriers to achieving dental health. Many of my patients did not have access to routine care and came to our clinic embarrassed and feeling quite hopeless. Dentistry is so much more than treating disease. We treat the whole person and I love that my job allows me to improve health and overall happiness.”
When not in the office, Dr. Kievit can be found volunteering with her five year old golden retriever, Lucy. “We named her Lucy because we love Lucille Ball and have spent so many evenings laughing together with her onscreen antics. Lucy has lived up to her name, she is goofy and full of personality.” In December 2017, Lucy was awarded registration with Intermountain Therapy Animals. “Lucy brings so much joy to our lives that we wanted to share that with others. We ultimately would like to work with R.E.A.D, a program designed to promote children’s literacy and communication by reading to dogs.”
